What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a naturally occurring compound found in the resinous flower of cannabis, a plant with a rich history as a medicine going back thousands of years.

Today the therapeutic properties of CBD are being tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world. A safe, non-addictive substance. 100% Legal.

There are a lot of misconceptions of CBD:

Cannabis plants are made up of more than 100 different cannabinoids, chemical compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors in cells that alter neurotransmitter release in the human brain.

The two most known ones are CBD and THC.

CBD – 100% legal. As this is extract from hemp plant and Hemp is legal. CBD can be found in various forms, such powder (isolate) which is 99.9% pure CBD with Zero THC. This is what we use in our cosmetics.

Then, THC -this over 0.2% is illegal due to the fact it is a psychoactive chemical and is a controlled substance under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971

Professor Philip McGuire, Head of Department of Psychosis Studies at King’s College London, claims CBD has the potential to treat mental health problems: He said that “CBD may be useful as a treatment for patients with psychotic symptoms like paranoia and anxiety, as well as depression”.

What are the benefits of CBD?

As there are so many benefits, people often get sceptical but it was only in 2016 that MHRA (medicine and healthcare regulatory agency) deemed it legal but as a food supplment and not as medicine.

Here is one a small list of

 CBD can help manage pain

First on our list, is CBD’s ability to alleviate a condition that nearly every senior deals with―pain and inflammation. Studies have shown that CBD can reduce inflammation and alleviate pain from conditions such as Arthritis, Joint Paint and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

CBD promotes bone health

As our bodies naturally age, we endure a condition known as Osteoporosis.
In addition to reducing inflammation and promoting cell repair,
research has shown that the cannabinoids like CBD can actually help strengthen the bones and even promote the healing process if a fracture does occur.

CBD can improve quality of sleep

To alleviate their sleeping disorders, most people will turn to sleeping medications. While these may temporarily solve one problem, they create an even bigger problem in the long run. By combatting the conditions that are causing sleeping disorders, such as stress, anxiety, restlessness, and general unbalance in the body, CBD can calm the user and naturally promote a healthier sleep problem for seniors. More importantly, it can prevent the need to take harmful sleeping medications.

CBD can improve heart health

In addition to reducing high blood pressure, studies found that the antioxidant properties of CBD may help reduce cardiac inflammation and can deter cell death caused from oxidative stress.

CBD can cure cancer?

According to Professor Pertwee: “There is some published evidence that CBD has anti-cancer effects. “Together with collaborators, we have also obtained preclinical evidence that CBD would reduce cancer chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting.”
